What is the CBD?

A member of the cannabinoid family, CBD or cannabidiol is an active substance found in the hemp plant. It is found in a reduced proportion in this plant alongside THC, another molecule that is found in large quantities. While the amount of CBD varies between 0.6% and 1%, the amount of THC varies between 12% and 25%.

Thus, in commercially available cannabis seeds, THC is present in considerable proportions. However, there are also seed varieties that may specifically contain a large amount of cannabidiol. But this is rare, very rare.

CBD and THC: what is the difference between these antioxidants?

Up to 500 cannabinoids can be found in a cannabis or cabbage plant. However, of all these, THC or 9-tetrahydrocannabinol is the best known, because of its effects. It is a so-called "psychoactive" substance that acts directly on the consumer's nervous system. It modifies brain function, changes the consumer's mood and alters his or her behaviour. This is known as the "high" effect of THC.

While THC is "high", CBD is soothing. Thanks to its nutrients, it boosts the immune system - like Goji berry - calms the nervous system and fights against the effects of 9-tetrahydrocannabinol. However, it is not completely devoid of psychoactive effects. The consumer may feel a deep sense of well-being for a few moments.

How does the CBD work?

CBD may not have the same side effects as THC, but this does not mean that it is without effect. In fact, it acts as a catalyst in the body and improves the body's response to pain. Be careful, this does not mean that cannabidiol prevents pain. We simply mean that this molecule can reduce its impact, making the pain more bearable. In other words, once in the human body, the CBD causes the body to withstand external stimulation without weakening.

Finally, in view of the way they work, cannabinoids should not be considered as substances that are completely foreign to the human body. In fact, if the body can effectively tolerate their presence, it is because it has the right receptors. These include CBD1 and CBD2 receptors, which are linked to the immune system.

Hemp and marijuana, what's the difference?

Hemp and marijuana are products of the same family. They both belong to the class of Cannabis Sativa L. However, there is a fundamental difference. Marijuana contains THC in high proportions. Hemp, on the other hand, also contains THC, but in very small quantities.

The usefulness of hemp and marijuana is also a difference to be taken into account. The use of marijuana as a therapeutic treatment differs from country to country. On the other hand, in addition to its therapeutic virtues, hemp, with its 20 amino acids, is used in the manufacture of cosmetics and food products.

Is the CBD banned in France?

In general, in several countries, the molecule that is banned for use is THC and not CBD. The latter is even recommended because of its therapeutic virtues and the absence of toxic properties as is the case with THC. CBD can be consumed legally according to French legislation. This has been the case since an announcement by the Ministry of Health in 2017.

On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that for CBD to be fully effective, it must be combined with THC. However, in many shops (physical or online), the products on sale have a low THC content. This reduces the medicinal properties of cannabidiol.

Why use CBD?

The main reason why CBD is so popular is because of its many benefits and contributions to the human body. In the form of a dietary supplement, it contains the 8 amino acids necessary for a balanced diet.

Like other fat-soluble and water-soluble lipids, CBD strengthens the immune system. In addition, it relieves the following ailments:

  • Muscle aches and pains;
  • Inflammatory pain;
  • Nausea,
  • Cardiovascular diseases ;
  • Anxiety and anxiety attacks;
  • Type 1 and type 2 diabetes;
  • Decreased risk of cancer: this is the case with prostate cancer;
  • Alcoholism;
  • Oxidative stress, etc.
  • CBD promotes good blood circulation, digestion, reduced blood pressure, good nutrition and weight loss. Also, it intervenes in the fight against free radicals, wrinkles, excess cholesterol, cellular ageing, skin ageing, irritable bowel symptoms, etc.

The list is long and will get longer since studies on CBD are recent. In a few years time, new medicinal virtues and beneficial effects to this cannabinoid will certainly be discovered. Moreover, according to scientific studies, it stimulates the appetite and combats many diseases, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

However, it should be noted that the degree of consumer satisfaction with CBD is not static. It depends on a number of factors, including their metabolism and the doses of cannabidiol they consume. In any case, according to numerous studies, even if the dietary supplement is effective against liver disease and stress, overdose is not recommended. It is not beneficial, as it can lead to numbness as well as to undesirable effects in the patient, such as the cannabis-fruit and vegetable syndrome.

How to use CBD?

Cannabidiol is one of the dietary supplements. Therefore, it can be consumed in different ways depending on its form:

  • Water-soluble paste or powder: absorption or assimilation is done with food;
  • Vegetable oils: drops of the oil are poured into food. According to scientific studies, CBD oil contains vitamins and minerals: vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin D, vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), fatty acid, catechins, etc. ;
  • Beverage: CBD-based green tea can be drunk ;
  • Chewing gum: CBD paste is mixed with natural ingredients;
  • E-liquid: the consumer uses a grape-flavoured electronic cigarette, which ensures that the cannabidiol is ingested into the blood vessels;
  • Cosmetic product: it is applied to the skin. It is used to treat acne, joint pain and certain skin diseases.

Can the CBD replace a drug?

CBD is a dietary supplement (often in capsule form). In fact, it can neither be assimilated to a medicine nor be considered as such. This justifies the fact that no product containing cannabidiol is labelled "medicine" or "drug treatment", even though the product may be used to cure cardiovascular disease or cancer cells.

Can pregnant women take CBD?

Yes, unlike THC, there are no particular contraindications for pregnant women. In 2004, the European Pharmacology Study published a series of studies showing that CBD, in addition to being a remedy for the symptoms of pregnancy, promotes the growth of the foetus. Among other things, it stimulates the endocannabinoid CB1 and, thanks to its oxidising properties, it promotes the production of fatty acids and collagen.

Is using CBD legal?

In accordance with the European decree n° 639-2014 and the European regulation n° 1307/2013, CBD is a 100% legal product if the THC content is less than 0.20%. This is therefore the case for all our products that you will find on our site such as CBD flowers, CBD oils, CBD e-liquids, CBD resins, beauty and well-being products.
